Welcome!

I’ve been fascinated by whales and all things aquatic for as long as I can remember. I saw my first Humpback whale off of Provincetown in 1987, and while there have been wonderful detours, I never forgot my aquatic friends.

Then, in June of 2024, a group of friends sat at a banquet to celebrate our shared love of science fiction and fantasy. As folks do during the dinner portion, we talked about our lives and what we were working. Since I was mostly going whale watching and editing stories, I offered some information about whales. They asked questions and when I offered to change topics (because I am well aware I could talk about whales and the ocean forever )… their answer was nope, keep talking, and while you’re at it, you need to do a newsletter to share this with other folks. Life did the life thing but by the end of 2024 I’d gotten the first issue out and started mapping many, many more.

I hope you’ll grab a cuppa and join us.

Once things with the newsletter got rolling I realized I had a way more things I wanted to know about and share with folks than would fit in a newsletter. I also tend to write more than really works in the newsletter format.

The solution: a website where I can post my longer and more wide spread explorations, and Deep Dives was born! Over there you’ll find whales! Plus, research rabbit holes, Aquarium tours, Trip Reports, and meet some of the amazing women and folx of Marine Science.
